Because of Covid-19, travelling has got a little more difficult. It leaves you questioning what countries you can travel to? What are the restrictions? And lots of other questions as well.

We will cover as much information as relevant possible to help you with your plans to travel to Belize during COVID-19. You will learn how our shuttle service is outfitted and operating under new safety protocols. Where and how you can get your departure covid test, compliance with the CDC guideline.

 

You don’t have to go anywhere to get it, the testing company “Covid-19 Concierges“ will come to you between 8 am and 5.30 pm… awesome!!!

Can you travel to Belize during covid?

Is it safe to travel to Belize right now? Yes,
To date, the Government of Belize has lifted the travelling ban to any country by air. Any Tourist visiting Belize will find the only entry is at the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA) or BZE on your flight ticket. Land Borders remain Closed.

It’s recommended for tourists visiting Belize during COVID-19 to stay in the Tourism safety corridor. The Safe Corridor includes Gold Standard certified accommodations, tour operators, tourism, transportation providers, restaurants, tourist sites and attractions, and gift shops.
But it’s allowed to wander around in the city or town that you are staying in, as was announced by our former Prime Minister honorable Dean Barrow in a publication in 2020.

Belize entry requirements during covid

Updated: Visitors to Belize, kindly take note of key changes for entry requirements as of 5 April 2022:
âś…Covid-19 testing will be limited to those who are not fully vaccinated or cannot show proof of vaccination.
âś…All fully vaccinated persons will be able to enter via airport, land border, or sea port without testing.
âś…Children under 5 years will not be required to present a negative Covid-19 test upon entry at the airport, land border or sea port.
âś…All curfew mandates have been removed.
âś…Mask wearing is not required for indoor or outdoor spaces.

Covid Restrictions in Belize

Wearing of a mask is mandatory;
When visiting public areas, masks are required. Children 6 and under are exempted from this restriction, this and other rules will be explained by your driver.

Curfew:
A curfew is in place from 10 PM to 5 AM. You can be fined ($250USD) for breaking the curfew.

  • Other restrictions that may affect you when visiting Belize during covid.
    Some outdoor (open-air) Restaurants and Spas are operating on a reservation only guideline.
  • You must remain 6 feet apart (about 2 arm’s length) from others not travelling with you.

For US Residence the CDC Guidelines mentioned no quarantine upon arrival in the US if you have proof of a negative test result or documents of recovery.

The following are a direct copy of the CDC before and after travel information:

Get Tested Before and After Travel

  • If you are travelling get tested with a viral test 1-3 days before your trip. Make sure you have the results of your negative test before you travel. Keep a copy of your results with you during travel; you might be asked for them.
  • Do not travel if you test positive. Immediately isolate yourself, and follow public health recommendations.
  • Get tested again with a viral test 3-5 days after your trip and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative. If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
  • You may have been exposed to COVID-19 on your travels. Regardless of where you travelled or what you did during your trip, take these actions to protect others from getting COVID-19 after travel:
    • Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet/2 meters (about 2 arm lengths) from anyone who did not travel with you. It’s important to do this everywhere — both indoors and outdoors. Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when in public settings. Masks are required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation, travelling into, within, or out of the United States and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
    • If there are people in the household who did not travel with you, wear a mask and ask everyone in the household to wear masks in shared spaces inside your home for 14 days after travel.
    • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol.
    • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness.
    • Watch your health: Look for symptoms of COVID-19.

Who is required to show proof of a negative COVID test prior to departure from Belize?
Travellers going to the following destinations are required to show proof of a negative COVID test prior to their departure:

  • Effective January 7th, 2021 – Canada (5+ years and older)
  • Effective January 26th, 2021 – United States of America (2+ years and older)

Mandatory COVID-19 testing, to be allowed to board a flight to Canada.

All air passengers 5 years of age or older, including Canadians, are required to show a negative COVID-19 molecular test result taken within 72 hours prior to boarding their scheduled departure to Canada or a positive COVID-19 molecular test is taken between 14 and 90 days prior to departure.

Under current UK COVID-19 restrictions, UK Citizen must stay at home. You must not travel, including abroad, unless you have a legally permitted reason to do so.

Covid Testing Departure Assistance

The “Covid 19 test concierge” company has made it easy for visitors in Belize, during the pandemic, to get tested before leaving the country without having to go to a public or private clinic and lose precious vacation time.

You can set up an appointment for the day before leaving and a covid testing team will come to the place you are staying to administer the covid test in 30 min / 45 min tops.

Procedure for Covid testing before departure.

  • Call to +501-613-8378 to schedule your appointment.
  • A trained professional will come to you to conduct the test.
  • State-of-the-art mobile testing equipment will provide your result within 30 min.
  • You can then be on your way with electronic or printed results of the test.

Please note that all Gold standard accommodation providers should be able to make an appointment for you.

The Belize Tourism Board and Ministry of Health recommended to NOT use the AC option during the transfer with travelers and leave the windows open…. Due to this suggestion and our experience of 12 years we knew that this would not be an option in our, at times too warm and at times rainy country Hence we installed in all vehicles a COVID-19 shield of such an airproof level that it keeps any airflow completely within the 2 separate compartments.    (Imagine what you might have experienced in New York taxis??)

Still being able to offer AC to keep us all cool during the drive and for a while you’re even able to take off the “dreaded” mask during the drive after having it on from the time you left your home and landed in Belize.

We clean and disinfect our vehicles before and after the drive with atomizers and Lysol disinfectants… To absolutely minimize any risk.

We will be happy to bring you to and/or from your location(s) while you are in Belize…
